Arts

Dunedin Fine Arts Center
Classes in drawing, painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor), pottery throwing, photography, printmaking, calligraphy, and fabric art are offered. Children's classes include pottery and clay sculpture, painting and sketching, and two creative theater classes. Registration 5 times a year. Something Fishy - Artists' Classes
A unique shop/art studio where classes and workshops are offered in pottery, silk-painting, calligraphy and unusual arts like mosaic-making, paper-making, creative lamp-making, glass-painting, Fimo clay art, and more. During the year - many adult classes that teens can attend, some children's classes . In summer - week-long kids' arts 'n crafts camps. Stop in and see what a variety of artists make for use and decoration, and buy some artistic creations. It's a great place for teens who may want to become working artists, 913 N. Science
Moccasin Lake Nature Park
Want to experience the beauty and diversity of our Florida environment? Indoor and outdoor exploration and activities, including a live exhibit of Florida reptiles, and hands-on room, and outdoors there is a "poison garden" (Florida poisonous plant species) and various birds of prey. Walk through the wooded paths.The park is closed Mondays. 462-6024 for more information.

Astronomy Club .. Tampa
SkyWatch observing sessions are held every Saturday evening in the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) parking lot in Tampa, and are free to the public. Organized by the Museum Astronomical Resource Society, also known as the M.A.R.S. astronomy club. You can attend the skywatch anytime or if you are more interested, join the club.

Florida Native Plant Society
1st Wed of each month, meeting at the Pinellas Cooperative Extension Service (next to Heritage Village) 727-582-2100, 12175 125th Street North in Largo. Adult with child, or teen.

Just Tumbling

Hapkido
Rick De Aquila of Hapiko International, on Cleveland St across from Nature's Food Patch will do private group classes for $35 an hour. Choose self-defense, or formal progression in martial arts. Starts at 9 years old. Attendees split the costs of each class, schedule classes by the month - paid in advance. Rick is great with kids. 447-1079

Action

Gourmet Cooking Classes in Dunedin La Maison Gourmet offers cooking classes for kids as young as 4 to 7! They have summer kids' camps for gourmet cooking, as well as workshops and classes during the year. There are more classes for adults, but you may be able to attend these as a mother-daughter team with an upper elementary age child. La Maison Gourmet 727-738-3070

4-H Youth Program

Civil Air Patrol
Kids ever want to fly an airplane? 13 -year olds and up or at least 6th grade can join the Civil Air Patrol to participate in a program that includes "aerospace education and leadership training." They learn to fly and help adults with emergency services such as search and rescue, working together as a disciplined group, camping out and other activities. There is a local group that meets Thursday nights 6:30 - 9 PM at the Clearwater Airpark. Or check for a group near you and get more info at Civil Air Patrol Information.
