What to Eat - the Big Question

We firmly believe that to cleanse the body for healing, eating a mostly raw vegetable and fruit diet can't be beat. When you are feeling the effects of chronic ill health from a modern diet, overloaded with empty calories, chemicals and toxins - it is what you leave OUT of your diet that makes the difference.

Long term, there are other requirements for good health…

We recommend a diet of green juices and fresh fruits and vegetables when doing a full cleanse for excellent results - during intestinal, kidney and liver cleansing. Thorough cleansing requires not continuing to put in what we are trying to remove.

Customers using our cleanses are encouraged to juice, eat salads, raw fruits and vegetables to facilitate the cleanse. A healthier diet after cleansing would include plenty of fresh nutrient-dense organic fruits, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds. You've heard this before.

To support a healthy diet and lifestyle, we provide specialty high-quality food supplies and tasty low-temp dehydrated snacks, crackers and cookies with NO processed ingredients, no flour or sugar, to help people who want to eat healthier. Healthy Foods and Supplies Store

We also make fresh greens juices 3 times a week for local customers with at least 8 different fresh greens plus we add our our superfood green powder, Vital Nutrition Plus (spirulina, chlorella, beets, barley grass, etc). We really want you to help you be healthy! - You can use it

Another View of Healthy Diets:
It is what you leave OUT of your diet that makes the difference.

You may hear people say they experienced improved health and energy from diets that restrict certain foods. Look at what they are leaving out to see what cause the improvement and what is still eaten that is not so healthy:

  • Low-Carb Dieters leave out sugars, white flour and many processed foods which are loaded with synthetic "nutrients". Much better! But what is the quality of the animal foods they eat - factory-farmed and sick?

  • Vegans leave out unhealthy animal foods loaded with the hormones, antibiotics and "cruelty feeds" (ground up parts from sick animals or the feathers and skins, etc. or just unnatural foods for that animal which make them sick). No meat from cows, chickens, or even fish raised in overcrowded, industrialized factory-farms. Ethical choices and important for health … but what about the empty, processed or genetically altered soy, corn and wheat products?

  • Vegetarians of various types leave out some of the above - maybe eating fish or eggs. Safer, but seed oils (corn, soy, canola, safflower, sunflower) ALL have transfats from their processing, no matter what the label says. Unadulterated olive and coconut oils are best to eat, but harder to find and expensive. And again, vegetarians often eat genetically-modified soy and canola oil, and corn and grains which are spray-extruded and toxic or processed and empty of vital factors. Health is still a problem.

  • Eating organically-grown foods avoids many chemical toxins found in practically everything grown in American or imported by multi-national corporations. But many items sold in health food stores that claim organic ingredients, also have excess 'organic' sugars or fake sweeteners, genetically modified foods and oils (canola), not to mention extruded grains saturated with transfats, or other processing.

  • Raw Vegan eaters leave out almost everything bad, and many good things too.

This can be really depressing!

Our Own Story:
We were raw foodists purely for about 1 ˝ years.
We hooked up with the raw food movement in 2004 and learned delicious ways to prepare fresh foods using just fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. We dev

eloped workshops to teach people to make their own delicious vegan fresh foods. We enjoyed the new tastes and textures, had a lot of fun, more energy, lost weight and felt better.

But in fact, after 1 ˝ years of eating completely raw vegan, we began to notice deficiencies. B-12 was the first, and since B12 is most available to humans from animal foods, it was an indicator of other missing nutrition.

We started another research project and found the Weston A Price Foundation, and more recently, Deep Nutrition, a book co-written by an MD and chef explaining benefits of traditional cuisine preparation. We started visiting local farms that raised animals humanely on their natural diet - mostly green grass. (Ah, back to sunlight and fresh greens, but with the nutrients made available to us through well-treated animals.) We were impressed, by the health and happiness of the animals, by the sincerity of the farmers - and by the taste of the foods! We felt much, much better too.

It seems since Homo sapiens has lived in so many climates and locales and is able to adapt to whatever is available to eat there, how the foods are raised and prepared has a greater impact on health than adhering to specific diets.

To be finished….
